Hi Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to view my fundraising page.
This summer I was offered an amazing opportunity to work with Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) as a Fellow in partnership with Fiver Children's Foundation. FLIA prepares the next generation of young professionals by helping them develop skills they need to be successful in the workforce. As fellows we work full-time with non-profit organizations to develop programs that support youth, and expand our leadership skills.
This summer I have the pleasure of being placed with a partner organization that is near and dear to my heart- Fiver Children's Foundation. Fiver is a non-profit, youth development organization. They make a 10-year commitment to participants from economically disadvantaged communities in New York City and Central New York to develop skills that will help them succeed in school and their careers, and make positive life choices. From the age of 8 until high school graduation, Fiver creates programs that help participants and families navigate the different stages of their life both at the campsite in Poolville, NY and their year-round NYC office.
In 2004 when I was 7 years old I stepped foot on this camp and 15 years later Fiver continues to have a huge impact on my life. As this summer's Character Education Fellow (CES) my role is to bring Fiver’s 12 attributes and 5 values to life. F.I.V.E.R. stands for Friend, Individual, Valuable Team Player, Environmentalist and Risk Taker. Within each value there are 12 attributes that are practiced and embedded in our Fiver culture with the hope that participants will take them and implement them in their everyday lives. For this reason I am excited to be a FLIA fellow and give back to the program that gave so much to me as well as take part in a new experience with FLIA to progress my professional career.
Thanks to organizations like Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) young professionals can gain experiences with amazing non-profit organizations like Fiver, working to support youth while gaining the skills needed to be successful in the workplace. The FLIA experience is very unique and this summer I set a goal to fundraise $650 to FLIA so future fellows can enjoy this experience as well. By donating, FLIA can continue to partner with organizations such as Fiver!
If you’re unable to donate, thank you for reading my story and I hope you can share this with others who may be interested in learning about FLIA, Fiver or making a possible donation!
